Sandy Gwinn-Freemantle

Sandy is married with a family and has lived in Stapeley for the past five years having moved from Oundle in Northamptonshire. Born and educated in Wiltshire, she later read English at a London College. She started her professional career working for a large advertising agency in the City and later worked for a prestigious newspaper group based in the South of England covering Dorset and Hampshire. She has been very actively involved in various committees and national and local fund-raising. Ten years ago, she returned to college and qualified as a reflexology practitioner.

Family life is of paramount importance to her and she is particularly interested in education within the community.

Mike Docker

Married with a grown-up family, Mike and his wife moved into the area from Poynton in April 2007. He joined the Parish Council in June 2008 and has since retired from work, allowing him more time to keep abreast of all aspects of the local council decision-making process, with an emphasis on police, health, road safety and local transport issues in particular. Mike's other interests revolve around railways and making as much use as possible of his and his wife's motorhome.


Keith Nord

Keith Nord, a family man who lives in the rural part of the parish, has been on the Parish Council since May 2003 and is now its longest serving Member.



Jo Hillman

Jo is married with a young family and has lived in Stapeley, on the Cronkinson estate since 2007. Having completed her schooling in North Wales, Jo read Software Engineering at Lancaster University and later went on to complete a PhD in the subject area.

Having worked as a Research Associate for 7 years, she changed careers and is now a public sector account manager for a provider of managed print services and print solutions.

Jo joined the Parish Council in June 2011 in order to contribute to the community in which her and her family live. She would like to do what she can to help better the community for all who live there.


Matthew Theobold

Matthew Theobald was born in Surrey, but has been doing all he can to get further North with every move since university! He met his wife (a Yorkshire lass) at his first job after graduation, relocating to the rural part of the parish from the East Midlands in the mid-1990s. Matthew's career has spanned numerous medical device development projects, managing healthcare regulatory compliance for several sites and responsibility for IT quality across 12 European sites for the largest global healthcare company.

Matthew is now Managing Director of a medical device consultancy that helps save, and improve, patients' lives; working with both private and public sectors to design, develop and launch medical devices and drug/device combination products. He has co-authored three books and presented at many international conferences.

Matthew became a parish councillor at the December 2013 meeting. He is also a Governor at Stapeley Broad Lane CE Primary School, where his daughter is a pupil. Much of the family's free time is spent on its narrow boat, berthed on the beautiful Llangollen Canal near Nantwich.



Peter Groves

In addition to being a parish councillor, Peter Groves is also a borough councillor at Cheshire East Council, representing Nantwich South and Stapeley.

Although he does not live in the parish, Peter operates his business locally and has always been actively interested in parish matters.


John Davenport

John was born locally and attended Malbank Sixth Form. He lived in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire before returning to the area to further his career with an engineering consultancy in Manchester. A Chartered Engineer, he is now a Company Director.

John is a classic car enthusiast but these days spends the majority of his free time with his young family. He has a wide cross-section of friends from both the rural area, as well as the housing estate within the parish, which provides him with a broad insight into all aspects of local community life. He is active in planning matters and is keen to enhance the quality of life for all generations living in the area.


Martin Malbon

Martin was brought up in the Potteries and moved to Nantwich approximately 12 years ago. He lived on the Cronkinson Farm estate for 8 ½ years and moved to Broad Lane, in the rural part of the parish, just over 3 years ago. Martin lives with his partner Helen and his two young daughters who are both pupils at Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School.

Martin studied Geology at Hull University and then studied for a Master's Degree in Computer Science at Staffordshire University. Since then he has worked as a software development engineer, including some time at Microsoft in Seattle.
Martin is a keen musician and regularly plays in a local band in and around the Crewe and Nantwich area. He also enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hill-walking and water-skiing; has climbed various routes in the Lake District, North Wales and France including a number of Alpine peaks such as Mont Blanc.
